Betty LaBombard
Betty LaBombard was a lifelong Burlington resident. She worked at Woolworth’s department store as a waitress for decades. Her grand-niece Holly Barrett-Willards says she used to visit her aunt there.
"I think the favorite memory that I have is when I was younger, we always used to go on Saturdays and get hot fudge sundaes, and then she would get done work and sit with us. She was very family-oriented, she could never have children of her own. So she kind of took that grandparent role on. You know, at Christmastime, the church would always have like a mitten and hat tree, and, you know, she'd make sure that every child had mittens and hats and enough volunteers and things like that. She was such a nurturing person and a loving person, and she'd give you the shirt off her back."
Betty LaBombard died on March 19, 2020 at Burlington Health and Rehab. She was 95.
