Carolyn Lane

Carolyn Lane grew up in Putney, and she raised her family there for a very long time on her own, after her husband passed away. Her daughter, Valerie Becker, said Lane was a bookkeeper who worked at a number of local companies throughout her career. And with strong local ties and the relationships she built at businesses in Windham County, Becker says a lot people knew her mom.

"A lot of people knew her. A lot of people worked with her. And I think she made a good impression on people, I know she really did on our family."

Lane was active into her eighties, and lived on her own, until she got sick. After she got COVID, Lane moved into Becker’s home in Brattleboro, where Becker says all of her family was able to come by and visit regularly. Carolyn Lane died on Nov. 24, 2020. She was 81.
