Joan Louise Bruns

Joan Louise Bruns moved to Vermont about 20 years ago after retiring from her career as a nurse. She and her husband came here to be closer to their kids. Here’s her daughter Jean Baker.

"She was very service-focused. She was a member at Faith United Methodist Church in South Burlington. She did some fundraising projects for them, she did a pulled pork dinner that helped sort of get some funding going for a new organ when they needed it. Oh, she loved classical music, and she went to the Handel and Haydn Society in Boston, she was a subscriber to that concert series for over 30 years. And even after she moved up here, she used to go down to Boston at least to hear Handel's Messiah. Those are things that I cherish."

Joan Louise Bruns died on Dec.1, 2020 at Elderwood nursing home. She was 87.
