John Kupferer
John Kupferer was a retired teacher, school principal, football coach, and a lifelong student of history.
His daughter, MaryJane Stinson, uses the word “feisty” a lot to describe him. He was known for that, she says, as well as his defense of the underdog. He says that was a clear line that ran through his career as an educator.
"He did have a sense of always trying to go after what would make things help, or things better. I think he was always looking at the underdog, and how he could help that person, or help that group."
MaryJane followed her father into a teacher career, and is now co-principal at Milton High School. She says she got her own passion to defend the disadvantaged from her dad.
“He always believed in the kids that maybe needed a little extra, and that really resonated with me, because those are the students we always look to help.
"
MaryJane said she says she believes her dad, a devout Catholic, is now in a good place, reunited with her mother, and at peace. John Kupferer died on May 24, 2020. He was 78.
