Naomi McCullough
Naomi McCullough moved her family to Vermont on a whim in 1968, after seeing a picture of Lake Champlain in a magazine. The single mother of four was a nurse and spent her career working at psychiatric hospitals and nursing homes.
Her daughter Tommie Murray says she used to call her mom a lot.
"I would call her just to figure out how to cook something, or if I was ticked off at somebody or, you know, I got a new job or I bought something ... [The grandkids] thought she was a hoot, because she would come out with something just like crazy. She could have a mouth like a truck driver, and they would all laugh and think she was hysterical, and she was."
Naomi McCullough died on April 11, 2020 at Birchwood Terrace in Burlington. She was 89.
